Default Rules?

What type of rules do you use in your forum? What do you include in your rules? Post a copy of your rules & then get feedback on them here!

I'll go first. Here are my general rules that I made just a few weeks ago.

GENERAL POSTING RULES: Post messages in the appropriate forum, and read the previous posts to avoid duplicate topics. Cross-posting is also not allowed. There is no need to post the exact same message in multiple threads and/or multiple boards. Please also do not double post or BUMP threads. Moving locking and deleting of topics will be done without question at the moderators discretion. Some boards have their own rules & guidelines. Please read the sticky posts at the top of each Board before posting. We also recommend using the spell check feature. Please dO NoT pOSt LikE tHiS!1!!1 or use abbreviations. Such things lower the value of conversations & is not proper English.

LANGUAGE: We live by words online, so we don't allow obscene, racist or sexually explicit language. We also reserve the right to remove postings that defame or insult anyone, and notes that are abusive or hateful. Any harassing notes or postings that might be construed as stalking will be moved, locked and/or deleted. Please keep it at a PG-13 level. If you have to wonder about a word, chances are it's probably not appropriate for the forum. The best way to determine if content is PG-13 is if it can be said or depicted on prime time network television; if not, then please don't post it. We also reserve the right to remove notes that are off the subject or not in English.

SPAMMING: The posting of ads for the solicitation of sales is not appropriate along with spamming the forums with multiple posts of self-promotion. This includes advertisements for your business or latest get-rich-quick scheme. Such notes add clutter and devalue conversation.
Please don't Spam the different folders with repetitive threads on the same subject. No one may e-mail, privately message, or post anything that attempts to exploit the LOST4EVER.com members. This is a 100% No Tolerance policy.

TROLLING/FLAMING/BASHING/: We respect the right of everyone to express their opinions without fear of being attacked or personally insulted. Feel free to debate strongly and offer firm opinions. However, if you feel the need to indulge in mean-spirited and personally directed insults, attacks, and quarrels do so off the forum. Baiting or inflammatory posts designed to attract or elicit predicable responses are not appropriate and persistence in this activity can result in suspension or banning.

Needless to say, disrespecting moderators, global moderators & administrators will lead to banning.

AFFILIATING:LOST4EVER.com in no way formally affiliates with any other websites, forums or company's. We are not in any way affiliated with the show itself or the producers. LOST4EVER.com is a strictly fan based community. If you wish to advertise your LOST site please post a link here: Forum Advetizing... If the site you have posted is non-lost related and/or contains adult content it will be deleted from the database. If any site posting are found out of the appropriate places the post will be deleted and/or locked.

PRIVACY: You must respect the privacy of individuals. This means no posting of phone numbers, addresses, social security numbers or any other private information (Except E-mail).

DOUBLE POSTING: Double posting is defined as posting a message in a thread twice (or more) in a row. Please use the modify button and edit your original post if you need to add something, or delete it.

SCREEN NAMES & ACCOUNTS: Members should have one account. Sometimes obtaining a second account is simply accidental due to problems with signing up and sometimes it's an effort to facilitate trolling. If you choose to ignore this important restriction, all your accounts could be disabled. If you have forgotten your password please use the “retrieve password” feature. Some accounts may be deleted if not active over a long period of time, so try to stay active.

SIGNATURES & AVATARS: No more than 100x100 pixels for avatars. Please do not put huge and/or moving banners in your signature. Please also do not be offended if moderators edit your signature for any reasons.

To summarize use your common sense & have fun. Just treat others as you would want to be treated. We realize that there will be differing opinions. So please respect each other as much as possible so we can keep LOST4EVER.com a nice place for everyone to share.

So what do you think?

I would think that a site about forums would be more open on it's definition of spamming. Many might want to come here to help promote their own site. This in turn could help this site.

I dont mind people posting there site for review or even free advertising but i dont want people posting there site in every post they can, there is a certain forum to do this in and it should stay there and not ruin the site.

Rules are alright, most folks never read them when they join anyway!

Common sense should be the rule, if someone new comes on the forum and makes an ass out of themselves with every post it does not take much commons sense for the administrator to ban them, that is rule number one, the administrator must have some brains and sound judgment!

For example, this forum is one for forum owners who mostly tell it like it is, Mike knows that already, he also knows there is going to be some hard hitting discussion and heated debate and some folks may get their feelings hurt if they are on the wrong side of a debate!

If they can't take it they are in the wrong forum, no rules can help them out there!

Can I ask what LOST4EVER.com is? Why does it say it all over your rules.
