ThreadRally is on a distinguished road
Default Suggestion? ThreadRally

Hey Guys,

I just joined up and I wanted to see if you guys can give me some feedback about my new company.

My name is Ryan and I am one of the founders of ThreadRally. We host drawings/raffles for individual forums for prizes. In our opinion, it's really a cool way to bring your users together and fund raise for the site or yourself. Read on if you want to hear more.

We organize and manage all aspects of the drawing but your users buy the tickets for your individual auction from a thread on your forum. We take 10% of the ticket proceeds, the forum admins take 10% of the ticket proceeds, and the remaining 80% is used to buy the cool stuff to be raffled off (ps3s, IPods, cash, etc., whatever you guys want--we use a wholesaler so we get items at a discount). The best part--every ticket wins something.

The details of the raffle are decided by the forum admins. We typically use either 5, 15 or 30 dollar ticket prices and sell tickets for 3 days to a week. Here is an example of our last rally for a very small gaming forum site. Typically we forecast a single ticket sale for each active member.

15 dollar tickets
Sold 28 tickets in the 3 day pre-raffle time period
Admin made: 42 dollars

Prizes given:
1 DS Lite
1 BioShock (for Xbox 360)
1 Ipod Shuffle
1 $15 prize
8 $5 prizes
4 $2 prizes
12 $1 prizes

Items are shipped FedEx at no extra cost. Prize money is payed through PayPal within 48 hours of raffle's end. Contracts will be signed by ThreadRally and site admin to make sure each party is held accountable to their end.

What are your thoughts? Good idea or bad? Would you ever initiate something like this for your own forums?
