A good way to get real good visits is to do a link/banner exchange with other forums exactly like yours, a link/banner exchange is when you place a link/banner to a site that also has a link going to your site. You can search these on google. I recomend not doing banner exchanges with sites like banner ally etcertra, as you pay lots for hardly anything.

The banner exchange run by labrocca is a very good one if your a gaming forum.

Yes banner exchanges are very good for new forums as it gives your site exposure for no to little cost.
You just need to find someone with a site related but not to related to the one you own also it usually results to partnership deals.
