I've tried a couple of those "paid traffic" places, that promise to bring targetting traffic to your site. There was no benefit to me at all, no new members, no ad clicks, nothing. It's a waste of money, in my opnion.

It is the biggest unnoticed scam ever. All it does is use precious bandwith! Death to paid traffic I say!

What you might want is an affiliate program, where you will pay someone for referring others into your forums.

Another is to have a referral contest where the winner will not be based on the number of referrals but on the number of posts your referrals make.

I'm running a contest like this right now, on my site HappyHourPub.com.

Whoever gains the most "points" by the end of February will win an MP3 player. A user gets 2 points for every new thread they create, 1 points for replying to an existing thread, and 25 points for referring a new user to the site.

You asked in another thread weather or not this site makes any money. How would it make money without haing ads and/or affiliates? We can sell advertising space, or place context sensitive ads (like the Adsense ads placed on all pages here) to generate some revenue.
