Hello, I thought it might be interesting :-)
Thailandis known by the poeple as "The Country of
Smiles" and is one of the most visited countries in the word; in fact this did act in such a way
that maked possible who million of turists has discovered this beautiful country than in all others
put together. The
Thailand is located at the meeting
point of the two great cultural systems of Asia, Chinese and Indian, for this reason little by
little the Thai people has assimilated both of them, particularly linguistic culture, court culture
and traditiona culture. Approximately 95% of Thais are Buddhist - Theravada Buddhism - with the
remaing Christians and Muslims.
Thailand has a population of 60 million people, and covers an area of 513,000 square kilometers; the
capital, known by the foreigners as Bangkok, is called by the thais with the real name of
Krungtheep-Maha-Nakhorng, that means "City of Angels".
The city count around 8 million people, most of whom first arrived in
Bangkokfrom other provinces in search of job and
fortune. The way of living of the thai people is for many aspects very far and different from ours
back to the West. Their culture and traditions have been handed down from generation to generation,
and during the times has been carefully and proudly preserved by any foreign influences; that's why
very often we can't just understand or adjust to the way of thinking or behaving of the thai people.
This aspect is very evident in the provinces or in the countryside, while in Bangkok and in others
touristic area such as Phuket or Pattaya the characteristic tha way of living has unfortunately
radically changed to get more accostumed to the consumistic "American way"
Thailand, to the uninitiated, can be a pleasantly
overwhelming experience. An endless selection of sights, flavours, and personalities keep travellers
longing to drink from this cultural wellspring. By no means undiscovered, Thailand is a destination
with a cult following. Anyone – adventure seekers, artists seeking retreat, jet setters, those in
need of peaceful pampering or pure partying – can find their niche among postcard-perfect beaches,
stately mountains, Bangkok’s glitter or one of the many points in between. It’s all things to all
people; the stuff holiday legends are made of. With a wealth of history, an abundance of action,
immeasurable hospitality, and the loveliest of peoples,
Thailand has many faces. Each is unique, but they’re
all smiling ;-)
With best regards, Steven
