I never heard of such a thing, and scarcly think that it is possible. Every forum I have seen needs PHP in some way +MySQL/SQL. I don't think it is possible to change that, otherwise the forum would be static. Anyway, I don't think that a pure HTML forum would help you in SEO.

He is just talking about using mod rewrite. I think the best thing to do is look and see what the big boards are doing. I would tend to think it is moderately helpful for SEO, but would not go so far as to say it will make a huge difference.

This forum is using mod-rewrite which you can implement by going to http://www.crawlability.com/vbseo/

Alternativly you can create boards to be pure HTML like www.idolme.com does, It's simply a matter of each time someone posts it grabs the mysql data and the new post, then creating the html file and updating the links on the board.

Not sure which script is currently available.

That would be very handy! Never heard of anything like it though... that would be a major job.

Thumbs up another mod_rewrite resource

You can also implement mod_rewrite using a .htaccess file.

You can find out more on "Mod-Rewrite" by reading the topics and posts here: Mod Rewrite Forums

You will find that a search engine friendly url has many benefits and help to get pages indexed and ranking quickly. The vbSEO program works well if you have a VBforum, but what if you dont? I am not sure if crawlability has released their phpBB version or IPB version yet, so if you have either of those boards or a different board like miniBB you may have to find something else.

The best way aside from a program is to use Apache Mod_rewrite in a .htaccess file to restructure your urls to be more search engine friendly and indexable.
