LOL short, admit it. When you disagree and ppl disagree with you you tend to have a bad attitude. Its true.

I believe most of the software can be made to work really well for just about anything. It just takes dedication and continued effort. I believe vBulletin to be the most modern in terms of scripting, but I actually prefer phpBB because I have so many boards using it.

phpbb is great is its free, But I would happily pay the extra for vbulletin for a few reasons including:

Security
Features,
Product Support
Ease of use
Easy to customise

... I'm sure there are many more reasons please post some more.

vBulletin is better for owners that are not coders, phpBB does require a lot more skill to keep up and running!

They are both good platforms with the right folks running the show, you must keep up to date on any platform and your host must know what they are doing too!

I'd rather hear advice from expert users and people who use both regularly.

I've been running a phpBB forum for a few months. I find it neither easy to skin, nor do I find it easy to mod. The mods often conflict with each other, Almost ALL of the mods that you have to spend so much time adding to php, come standard with vB. That alone makes it worth the cost of the vB license to me. We're changing over very soon.

She is right, ask anyone who has used both packages, with phpBB you need to be a great coder to add all the hacks you need to make it work as good as an out of the box vBulletin program!
