I have to say that I find vBulletin to be head and shoulders above the rest.

Sure you have to pay for it, but if you are serious about developing your forum it is a shrewd investment.

The ease of use along with it being so simple to add functionality through the product management system makes it a breeze to install any number of the numerous hacks available.

So all in all my vote goes to vBulletin.

vbulletin i would higly reccomend, yes people complain about that you have to pay for it but beleive me its defaintely worth it, for free, it would be burning board, very nice design quite secure, but lacks features, phpBB not good me thinks

Well, I will make no bones about it. I am a wowbb fan. My personal site is wowbb and I liked it so much I started producing mods for it, and now I am helping someone who has their own software product that is wowbb-based.
